PATENTED INTERNAL BYPASS
Toyota’s suspension target for the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro was the ability to have excellent end-of-stroke control while still providing comfort in the ride zone. With a new coil-based multi-link rear suspension including custom FOX shocks — tuned specifically for the TRD Pro replacing the rear leaf springs for 2022 — FOX’s patented Internal Bypass technology delivers the feel of near-endless suspension travel.
Exclusive Internal Bypass technology allows oil to flow around the piston at critical points during the stroke – while creating massive damping forces at the extremes of the shocks’ extended or compressed limits – supporting the truck like no other product can.
The suspension strategy for the Tundra TRD Pro remains the same: FOX shocks tuned primarily for excellent off-road performance while maintaining on-road comfort. The new truck handles large harsh inputs without severe bottoming or topping. On terrain with a lot of small bumps there’s excellent isolation as the truck operates in the ride zone of the shock; key attention was focused on achieving better rear/front balance, so the truck maintains its composure during braking and acceleration.
Technology Highlight: FOX Internal Bypass
FOX Internal Bypass position-sensitive technology provides the right damping setting depending on where the shock is in its travel. As you drive off road, shocks compress and rebound different amounts depending on your speed, terrain, and truck set up.
From decades of testing, tuning, and engineering experience, FOX has determined the ideal amounts of comfort and support the truck should experience in these various shock positions. FOX divides these various positions into three primary zones:
Catch Zone: provides more support during compression and rebound to catch jump landings and resist body roll while cornering.
Ride Zone: provides more comfort during compression and rebound to allow the shock to move smoothly up and down over rough terrain.
Bottom-Out Zone: provides the most support during compression and rebound to provide a bottomless feel from big hits and prevent bouncing after a large compression, like a jump landing.
2022 Tundra TRD Pro Suspension Specifications
Front
- FOX 2.5-inch diameter aluminum body shocks
- FOX Internal Bypass with three bypass zones
- TRD-tuned coil-over springs
- 7/8-inch hard chromed-plated stainless-steel shaft
NEW for 2022:
